Information on classes for learning Japanese

It is my wish that our school will be able to raise children who have developed their human potential and are able to deal with the challenges of life. Our teaching philosophy is based on the following three concrete aims and is employed at all times and all situations in school activities.

•	Children who are able to exchange greetings with others (The foundation of dealing with people)
•	Children who are good listeners (The foundation of learning)
•	Children who are able to converse with others (The foundation of self-expression)

•	Our free time program makes it possible for students to make friends with children of different age groups.
•	We actively involve local citizens and the local environment in the school curriculum.
•	We are attempting to further understanding of the international community with our “World time” class.
•	Mathematics classes are taught with a high teacher to student ratio.

*	“Waku-waku time” classes are held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
*	Morning meetings and school meetings such as the morning P.E. class, the morning music class and student council meetings are formats for fostering emotional health in the students
*	Takanawadai Festival by different classes
*	Iwai swimming class held by PTA (2-day stay overnight)

In order to deal effectively with the challenges that will be presented in this age of drastic change, it is our aim to foster children strong in both body and mind who have developed the fullness of their human potentiality and are thus able to actively participate in the international community.

1.Classes

•

With the introduction of high teacher to student ratio forms of teaching and other similar items we are able to easily work with the needs of the students. Using teaching methods that make the most of the each student’s individual characteristics and abilities helps us to instill in them the fundamentals and basics they need. Our classes are designed to foster self-motivated and pliant thinking as well as equip them with abundant powers of creation and expression.

2.Morals

It is our aim to develop children kind in heart and mind with a feeling of respect for life and nature and an understanding of the importance of human rights.

3.Special activities

•

We foster independent and practical attitudes in the students in an effort to help them live fuller lives with the provision of activities that involve groups of all grade and age levels and direct, hands-on experiences.

4.Comprehensive learning time

•

The classes instill in the students the abilities and characteristics needed for discovering problems on their own and then learning about them in an independent and creative manner so they will be able to solve said problems.

5.Life guidance

•

We offer guidance that deepens the understanding and emotional openness of each individual child in an effort to equip them with the fundamental customs and habits needed in daily life.

•	We are endeavouring to raise students who are well emotionally developed and able to function independently through the implementation of such activities as morning meetings and free time programs.
•	With regard to the surrounding community the school makes the most of local citizens and local facilities to instill in the students a feeling of wanting to get closer to nature and to respect and protect cultural assets.
•	We are promoting international understanding with exchange programs with children who have lived overseas, foreign children and foreign teachers in our world time classes.
